Winchester Area Newcomers Club

Testimonials

I moved to the Winchester area during the height of COVID in 2020 and in-person activities were not occurring. The club had temporarily transitioned some of the activities to Zoom, so I was able to join in and meet some new people via Zoom for activities like the book clubs, the stitcher's group and the general meetings.  It wasn't ideal but it made an isolating time so much better.   Once the in-person activities resumed, I jumped in and started participating in 10-12 activities a month. I've made so many new friends and they are all wonderful ladies. Newcomers Club was a lifeline to me during a difficult time and transition, and I'm so blessed to have found it.  There are so many fun activities and new members are bringing some wonderful new ideas to the club.

I moved to Winchester after living in one county in NJ my entire life. My sister and her family are here, but most of them have jobs so this group has been a "God Send" for me. I say " You've saved my life" on many occasions. I moved here right before Pandemic so I didn't meet any neighbors for quite awhile. I do many of the activities and I'm also on the Board trying to help where I can. We are Great group of women.  You won't be sorry for joining us.

Winchester Area Newcomers Club (WANC) was a lifesaver for me when I first moved to town and didn’t know a soul. This group of kind and welcoming ladies became the foundation for a rich network of friends. I’m not really a “newcomer” anymore, but the friendships and fun continue to enrich my life.

Moving here at Christmas, 2011, from living 23 years in MInnesota was quite a change!  We had carefully researched and chosen to retire in the Winchester area.  However, we knew not a single person.  I inquired at the Visitor Center if there was a Welcome Wagon/Newcomers, etc group in existence.  I made contact with Newcomers and quickly attended the first event, which was their monthly luncheon.  My husband is a golfer, so as luck would have it, the lady sitting next to me that day, had a husband with similar interest!  Thus began a wonderful source of not only friendship with so many wonderful new friends, but also learning of so many resources in the area!

I would strongly encourage any woman who is new to the area, or has had a change in her status (due to retirement, marital status, etc) to give consideration to joining this club.  There is no ‘end’ date, so be a member as long as one desires to do so.  So many activity groups to chose from too!  Check out the website for more information!
